New Features in 2010
scopeArchiv Version 5 Release 0
scopeArchiv 5.0 has been revised and expanded in several parts. In particular, the Image-Assistant has been amended by a set of new functions that allow an archive to import into scopeArchiv pictures easier and better adjusted to archival needs. Newly, scopeArchiv 5.0 includes the possibility to export data in EAD format. Completely revised is the „Report Engine“ that is now based on Crystal Report 12.0 and supports the output-format MS-Word 7.0. ‚Query Sync‘ allows the automatic adjustment between a productive scopeArchiv environment and an external scopeQuery installation. Consequently, tedious manual export of saved data – often constricted by special IT-security constraints - to scopeQuery can be omitted. ‚Query Sync‘ furthermore permits implementation of the Order Counter from a DMZ (Demilitarized zone for external operation of an internet application).

scopeOAIS Version 1 Release 0
The newly launched product suite scopeOAIS 1.0 from scope solutions ag allows the OAIS conform digital long-term archiving using scopeIngest and Repository Ingetration. The new suite includes – next to the already known applications scopeArchiv und scopeQuery - the new module scopeIngest as well as the new scopeOAIS Repository Integration .
Due to scopeOAIS, scope customers are enabled to manage classical and digital archival material integrally. scopeOAIS is therefore your first class choice for convergence in classical and digital archiving. All known and well established functionality of the „classical“ scopeArchiv product are expanded by the part of OAIS for the digital archiving. For all archival users, scopeArchiv remains the main tool also in future. Applying the scopeOAIS suite, it is possible to cover all parts of the OAIS conform and ISO 20652 based digital long-term archiving without media breaks.
With scopeOAIS, the barrier between „digital“ and „classic“ is to be removed. A digital record in the integrated repository does not have to be handled separately: “Digital” is rather “only” an additional data format, analogical to stone, papyrus or paper.
scopeIngest
scopeIngest enables the OAIS-compliant and ISO 20652-based transfer of digital data to the archive. The standard Ingest components that are fully integrated in scopeArchiv and supplied in the package are easily configured using submission agreements. Submission agreements can be customized at any time and combined with extended components. The published interface enables an archive to develop and easily integrate its own Ingest components. scopeIngest supports any input formats in the submission information packages (SIP) and a large number of standard formats in the preservation description information (EAD, METS, PREMIS, etc.) of the AIP. In combination with our repository adapters, and thanks to scopeArchiv and scopeIngest, you will in future also be able to describe archived records throughout the entire archive in a classic as well as a digital way, and therefore also in a hybrid manner from a single tool, using a standardized user interface.
scopeArchiv Repository Integration
scopeArchiv Repository Integration supports a series of well-known archival storage solutions (OpenSource 'FEDORA-COMMONS', IBM 'DIAS', ExLibris 'DigiTool', EMC 'Centera') for saving primary data selected for long-term preservation. The number of repositories already supported enables the customer to freely select to a large extent the archival storage system of its choice. In addition to adapters that are already available as a product license, scope solutions ag also offers the option of integration in a specific archival storage solution. Thanks to the existing Repository Adapter Framework, scope is able to quickly integrate new repository solutions in scopeArchiv.
scopeQuery Sync Service
The scopeQuery Sync Tool is a Windows service that publishes the data from a source database to a target database. Usually the data from a production database is published to a web database that is used by scopeQuery. However, the tool does not only publish data from the source to the target, but depending on the configuration it will also read some data from the target database and update the corresponding rows in the source database. Usually only tables that get solely updated by scopeQuery are synchronized back to the source database. An additional feature is the fact, that only “public” data is published to the web database in order to minimize security issues.
The features of the tool are:
- Synchronize tables of two scopeArchiv databases
- Built as a Windows service
- Only public records are synchronized
- Fully configurable number of jobs. Administrators can define which tables are synced in which job
- Extensive logging of all the actions using the Microsoft Enterprise Logging Framework
- Logging is fully configurable. Log the events to XML files, the Windows event log, mail system or others
- Easy, intuitive administrative console tool to inspect the log files, change configura-tions and manage the jobs
- Fast: Update or insert up to 350 rows per second
Query Data Transfer Service
The Query Data Transfer Service is a Windows service that reads files containing order data and imports these files into the productive scopeArchiv database. Currently only files containing order data that are produced by the Query web application can be digested. In the future, other types of data might be imported by the service. This service is usually used together with the Query Sync Service. To make use of this service the Order Counter add-on for scopeQuery is required.
The features of the tool are:
- Checks every 10 seconds if new data files have arrived
- Imports any (valid) files into a scopeArchiv database
- This service allows using the Order Counter without the need to interface directly with the productive database.

scope solutions ag offers two new turnkey solutions for the classical and digital longterm archiving:
- scopeArchiv 5.0 Turn Key Solution for an entire Archival Information System (AIS)
